How to Calculate Required XVR/NVR Storage Capacity with Disk Calculator

- Disk calculator is a program that takes the record settings of surveillance setups and outputs estimates of record times and suggested storage capacities. This page will show you how to calculate your required storage capacity using Disk Calculator.
Requirements:
- Disk Calculator downloaded and installed.
- A list of your desired camera recording settings.
Instructions:
- On your computer, open the Disk Calculator program or launch it from the Toolbox suite.
- Click Create Streaming.
- Under Channels, select the number of channels you will be recording.
- Under Compression, select the video compression standard you will be using.
- Under Resolution, select the desired recording resolution of your cameras.
- Under Framerate, select the desired recording framerate of your cameras.
- Your bitrate will be automatically generated from your previous inputs.
- You can generate a storage calculation under the Disk Requirement tab by selecting the number of days you would like to record and then clicking the calculator button.
- You can generate the maximum number of recording days under the Recording Days tab by selecting the amount of storage you might put into the XVR/NVR and then clicking the calculator button.
- You can generate a RAID storage calculation under the RAID Calculator tab by selecting the number of drives you would like to include, the capacity of each drive, and the RAID configuration, then clicking the calculator button.
